// DACfit / 2025-2026

The aim of ‘DACfit’ was to analyse suitable sites for the production of synthetic fuels (reFuels), taking into account DAC-relevant constraints such as temperature, humidity and seasonal fluctuations.

Relative climatic suitability for the operation of the DAC plant based on modelled annual productivity (quintiles, excluding zero values)

Based on these analyses, a technology-neutral DAC laboratory and test platform was developed and established at the ZSW. The integration of a flexible air conditioning system and additional test reactors enables both liquid- and solid-based DAC technologies to be investigated under realistic climatic conditions. The infrastructure is used for the pre-qualification of components and sorbents, as well as for the development of comparable test procedures for future research and industrial projects.

In addition, potential initial applications for ‘green CO₂’ from DAC plants, as well as suitable location criteria for bringing together CO₂ suppliers and buyers, were examined. Particular focus was placed on applications in the field of reFuels production and on tapping into market potential for companies in Baden-Württemberg.

The project received funding of around €1.4 million from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport between December 2024 and March 2026.
