The ZSW assists the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie - BMWi) with the preparation of the progress report on renewable sources of energy (EEG-Erfahrungsbericht). The individual reports on photovoltaics and onshore wind energy are written at the ZSW with input from the System Analysis department. The work is instrumental in the continuous monitoring of market trends and forms the scientific basis for the preparation of the progress report on renewable sources of energy and the further development of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).
