// Gas analyses, determining the quality of hydrogen samples

When producing and transporting hydrogen, impurities such as carbon monoxide can arise that can impair the performance and service life of fuel cells. The permitted limits are defined in documents such as SAE J2719 and ISO 14687-2.

At ZSW, equipment is currently being built to analyse very low concentrations of impurities in hydrogen, with funding from the German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The gases can be delivered in suitable containers. We can also take samples from hydrogen filling stations with a sampling device approved for this purpose.
