The demand for information today often goes beyond a request for simple figures and increasingly into realms where a full overview is needed of complex issues and phenomena in society, business or research. Consequently there is a greater need for cross-sector information to be bundled and packaged in such a way as to facilitate an understanding of situations and developments. In order to meet these requirements, the ZSW is developing quantitative and qualitative indicators, as well as sets and systems of indicators, which are adapted to the context in any given case. The indicators and systems of indicators are very versatile and can be used in many different contexts, such as the development of policies and the measurement of the impact of initiatives, but also in general for monitoring, evaluation and control.
